Phast and Safeti 9.0 are advanced software tools developed by DNV to enhance safety and risk management in process industries. Phast focuses on modeling potential hazards such as discharge, dispersion, fires, explosions, and toxic releases, while Safeti provides quantitative risk assessment (QRA) by evaluating the likelihood and impact of these hazardous events.
Key enhancements in version 9.0 include:
- CFD Dispersion Modeling in Phast: Integration with DNV’s computational fluid dynamics tool, KFX™, allows for more accurate atmospheric dispersion modeling of vapors, two-phase, and liquid flammable releases. This is crucial for assessing impacts on people, structures, and critical safety systems.
- Points of Interest in Phast: This feature enables users to define specific critical locations for detailed consequence analysis, similar to the Risk Ranking Points in Safeti. It requires an active Phast Explosions license.
- New Ignition Models in Safeti: Based on guidelines from the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB), these models enhance the accuracy of ignition probability predictions across various scenarios.
- Dynamic Pressure in Exceedance Curves in Safeti: Users can now generate dynamic pressure exceedance curves, aiding in the design of blast-resistant structures and assessment of risks to personnel and assets from overpressure effects.
- Library of Representative Hydrocarbon Materials: A new set of materials provides users with additional representative hydrocarbon fuels, especially useful for those lacking complete chemical and physical property data
